Hispanic Heritage Month Augmented Reality Workshop

Prompt the students will work on building:
Hector from the SFV Valley Views radio station interviews Hispanic business owners in Los Angeles who speak Spanish. We will guide the students to create real time captions for him to translate Spanish to English through an augmented reality demo app. We’ll frame the project as a real world use case that will give the students a realistic take on how technology can be used to solve problems in their community. Students will learn to use the core concepts of machine learning and computer vision to create the demo app.
Our aim is to use real world examples in our community and culture and show how through creative expression and engineering skills we can innovate and take the power of technology in our own hands.

This is an example of a project one of our students has made which has been funded from sources such as MTV. More information here: https://www.steamconnection.org/supersisters
